Science Week 2020
14th Dec 2020
Science week 2020:
Science week 2020 took place from the 8th- 15th of November. We had a really busy week exploring in St. Teresa's National school. All the classes did lots of fun experiments. Miss Rehill’s class did different science experiments and put them up on seesaw so everyone could show their experiments.
A little experiment you could try at home:
How to make a Volcano
Materials:
- 10 ml of washing up liquid
- 100 ml of cold water
- 400 ml of white vinegar
- Food colouring
- Baking soda (fill a cup about ½ with baking soda, then fill the rest of the way with water)
- Empty 2 litres bottle
Instructions:
NOTE: This shouldn’t be done inside due to the mess.
- Combine the vinegar, water, washing up liquid and 2 drops of food colouring into the empty soda bottle.
- Use a spoon to mix the baking soda until it is all a liquid.
- Eruption time! … Pour the baking soda slurry into the soda bottle quickly and step back
