School of the Year Award

15th Mar 2019

School of the Year:

We entered a Cumann na mBunscol competition for School of the Year for Promoting G.A.A. and Culture. We wanted to show everyone that we do a lot in our school to promote G.A.A. and we also focus on the Cultural aspects of the G.A.A. like Seachtain na Gaeilge, Tráth na gCeist and School Scór. Every class were given different tasks integrating across the Curriculum. Some of these tasks included drawing G.A.A. pictures, colouring, writing acrostic poems, interviewing past and present pupils aswell as writing about what G.A.A means to them.  We were very busy but we all worked together. We linked this project to our club also. In early 2019, we discovered that we had been shortlisted in the top three for Large School of the Year. A selection of our staff made the trip to Sligo to the awards night on the 8th of March 2019. We were delighted to hear the fantastic news that we had won. We received a lovely award and a trip to Croke Park for a selection of pupils. We will continue to promote G.A.A and Culture for many more years to come.
