HURLING FINALS

1st Mar 2023

It has been a very busy week for our boys and girls Indoor Hurling teams. At the start of January, we entered five indoor hurling teams, two girls and three boys teams from 5th and 6th classes.

Yesterday, both our girls teams played brilliantly with Team 1 progressing to the final against Melview National School. After a terrific game where the girls fought to the end, we came out as runners up. A special mention to Elaine Casey who received Player of the Match in the Final and to all the girls for their efforts over the last few weeks.

Our boys Team 2 and Team 3 arrived with great enthusiasm to Edgeworthstown Community Centre with Team 3 drawing with Ballinalee in the first game. Team 2 produced a fantastic winning performance in their first game against Clondra. This then led us to the battle of Killoe teams where Team 2 came out on top and qualified  for the final against Clondra. Team 3 played off for a 3rd/4th place play-off and after a cracking game, came from two behind to win 3-2. The last game of the day was our final against Clondra. With excellent battling performances all over, we came out on top to win five-three. Captain Corey Downes accepted the trophy on behalf of his team and made a lovely speech on the day. Special mention to Vlad, who only joined us from Ukraine before Christmas , who did fantastic in his first ever hurling final. We now look forward to next week as Team 1 prepare for their final and wish them all the best. Well done to all the children for their efforts over the last few weeks.
